F1 weekend in Montreal: all the best parties

by Alexandra Forbes

As the F1 weekend approaches, I've been hearing about several parties that sound great, so I thought I should list them here....

Friday, June 11

Le 357, posh private club in Old Montreal
Party being hosted by Wayne Deans, Craig Langdor and Kate Raymor
By invitation only

Peel Paddock – 9 PM, Basement Superheroes show, by CYSR

Basement Superheroes will play live at 9 pm on the Ferrari Stage, courtesy of CYSR’s creator and former F1 chief mechanic Sandro Mauro. Organizers say Scarlett Johansson and other celebrities will be in attendance... we shall see... In any case, all restaurants on Peel street between de Maisonneuve and Ste Catherine streets will have large wood decks extending onto the street during the F1 weekend - Ferreira Café, Alexandre, Vasco da Gama, etc... Should be FUN.

Don't know what the heck is the Peel Paddock? Click here for more info!

Pop Up Supper Club at the Velvet Speakeasy Club in the Auberge St. Gabriel

An insider told me that the dinner - prepared by top chef Eric Gonzales, is "going to be wild!!"
"The atmosphere will be a mix between Andy Warhol & Stanley Kubrick imagery... try to figure that one out! It will be a Warholian / Kubrick Fantasy."
Cost is $150 and does NOT include wine or drinks.
426 Rue Saint Gabriel, (514) 878-3561

Saturday, June 12

Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté will throw a party/barbecue at his house
His parties are legendary, but I've been told he's toned it down this year.... keepin' it small and exclusive. Still, the hottest ticket of the weekend.
By invitation only.

Official F1 party at the Hotel Le St. James
Sources say they'll even have a JET parked out front, on the street!
By invitation only

The Grand Evening
This is the big-bucks fundraiser that will be co-chaired by Bernie Ecclestone (need I say more?) and Michael Fortier of Ogilvy Renault. Dinner + drinks cost $ 1000 per person.

Le Crystal Royale
Another fun party is being thrown by man-about-town Josh Silver, at the Le Crystal hotel. Here's the invite:

Sunday, June 13

Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté will throw a party at Velvet Speakesy/ Auberge St Gabriel
Cost is $50 but chances are someone without an invite won't get in, whether or not they want to pay the $50. The money will go to charity. This will be a much bigger affair than his house party, obviously...
